Dreaming of a wedding in Italy but have no idea where to start?
Do you feel chaos, hear different opinions and are afraid of making a costly mistake?
This post is for you.
An Italian wedding is a dream come true a Tuscan sunset, cypress trees, the sounds of violins, and a glass of prosecco in hand. But before that happens… you have some very important decisions to make. And a lot of unseen work to do.
As a wedding planner with years of experience organizing luxurious weddings throughout Italy for Polish women, I'll show you step by step how to organize a wedding in Italy without chaos or overspending. With a clear head, peace of mind, and awareness of costs and formalities.

Step 1: Don't start with the wedding venue
The most common mistake?
"I found a villa on Booking.com and fell in love! I emailed it right away and I'm waiting..."
The problem is that:
this villa may not host weddings,
may not have available dates in your month,
may not be suitable for the type of ceremony you are planning.
Before you start looking for a location, determine:
✅ Type of ceremony : – civil (with legal force) – church (e.g. Catholic, requires consent from the parish) – symbolic (the most flexible)
✅ Number of guests : Wedding in Italy for two (elopement), small wedding (20-40 people), or large party (80+ guests)?
✅ Region of Italy : Each has its own specificity.– Tuscany: classic with vines– Lake Como: elegance and exclusivity– Amalfi: romanticism with difficult logistics– Sicily: sun all year round–
📌 Only then should you start looking for a villa or property.

Step 2: Pinterest is for inspiration. Not strategy.
Got a board with 200 pins? Great! But don't treat it as a roadmap. Italian weddings look different in photos than in real life—and not everything popular online is feasible.
🎯 Example:
A wedding with a floral arch overlooking a cliff overlooking the sea? Yes, but only if the wind isn't too strong and the arch's design is appropriate.
Dinner al fresco at a vineyard? Yes, but only during certain months.
A church in the middle of Tuscany with a Polish-speaking priest? Possible, but it needs careful planning.
👉 If you want to have an Italian atmosphere, trust the local reality – not just the Instagram feed.

Step 3: How much does a wedding in Italy cost?
This is the most frequently asked question about weddings in Italy. Italy isn't cheap, but a wedding here doesn't have to cost a fortune if you plan it carefully.
Example forks:
💍 Elopement just for two (ceremony + session): from PLN 10,000
💍 Civil or symbolic wedding for 20–30 people (Tuscany, Umbria): from PLN 50,000
💍 Luxury wedding on Como with full service: from PLN 34,000
✅ What influences the cost of a wedding in Italy?
number of nights
region selection
season
number of guests
decoration style
logistics
Step 4: What documents are needed for a wedding in Italy?
This is one of the most common questions. And one of the most difficult topics. It all depends on the type of ceremony.
Civil marriage for Poles in Italy – required documents:
certificate of legal capacity to enter into marriage abroad from the Civil Registry Office
birth certificates
completed applications to the Italian Civil Registry Office
Symbolic wedding: It does not require any documents – but it also has no legal consequences.
Church wedding: – consent from the parish – licenses from the bishop – oath taken in Italian or with an interpreter – presence of a local priest or consent of the curia is often required
IMPORTANT: Documentation must be prepared in advance

Step 5: Is it worth having a wedding planner?
Not every bride needs a wedding planner. But every bride who wants:
avoid mistakes,
save time,
have access to local contacts, and sleep soundly before the big day…
…she should seriously consider it.
The truth is this:
A wedding planner doesn't cost anything , it saves you time, stress, and money.
Especially if you're planning a wedding abroad, in a different language, with venues that... well, don't always respond to emails.
The client wrote: "I thought I could handle it myself. After two weeks of crying over the lack of response from the villa, I found Karolina. Within an hour, I received three available dates and we went through the entire plan without any problems."
Step 6: Do it smartly, not with pressure
Planning a wedding in Italy is a beautiful process – but only if you know how to go about it.
So instead of endlessly Googling and wasting time on beautiful but outdated images, take one specific step :
📅 Schedule a consultation – 45 minutes of specifics, not chaos
